The Magic of the Winter😀
Owl and Piglet and Rabbit and all…
Waking up to snowlight on the ceiling is a good moment in spite of all the inconvenience.
My subsequent expedition was on a modest scale of one. The wind was strong and full of fine wet snow, so I carefully put into practice the lessons learned from frozen explorers and astronomers: wool is warmer; layer up; get boots and gloves warm before you put them on; fill up all the chinks by tucking trousers into socks, gloves into sleeves, scarves into coats, hats into collars. (Didn’t need the lessons about avoiding snow blindness though!) I don’t usually bother with walking poles, but today I was glad to have them, having reached the age at which you no longer bounce when you fall. (Click into a photo for the gallery)
